Hall of Fame bookmaker Vic Salerno’s bid to bring daily fantasy sports wagering to Nevada using a pari-mutuel platform is scheduled to go before Nevada gaming regulators in June.
Salerno told GamingToday he expects the company, to be known possibly as USF or US Fantasy, will be in business by August, assuming the Control Board and Gaming Commission sign off on his business plan.
Salerno also said his company will definitely be ready to take advantage of the growing fascination with eSports. It easily fits into his pari-mutuel approach. The discussion of eSports potential during last week’s meeting of the Governor’s Gaming Policy Committee saw several people agree pari-mutuel wagering would probably provide a low risk approach to bringing the popular pastime into existing casinos as a revenue producer.
Salerno said he and a partner had been discussing the potential for US Fantasy for several years but decided to push forward with it after gaming regulators said DFS companies could not operate in Nevada without the approval required of any sportsbook.
