The impact of The Mirage on gaming industry trends and designs is going to be the focus this week of UNLV’s 16th International Conference on Gambling and Risk Taking.
The success of this resort that was driven by the vision of its designer in chief Steve Wynn was long ago a settled issue. Few analysts thought it had any chance of succeeding when the $630 million resort opened in 1989.
The five-day event will last through Friday and bring about 600 people to Las Vegas from about 30 countries. The conference is primarily a research-based event that will include academics presenting papers on a wide array of topics.
Wynn will be present Tuesday as the kick-off speaker for the conference.
